Thiago Silva Concerned about PSG’s Poor Form

Paris St Germain appointed Unai Emery as the manager in order to finally achieve European success.

The club has struggled to achieve something meaningful in Europe despite having spent vast sums of money on players and managers. The likes of Carlo Ancelotti and Laurent Blanc have been unable to bring success to the French capital in terms of the Champions League. After having watched Unai Emery lift three consecutive Europa League titles with Sevilla, the club has decided to go for the Spaniard even though he had a poor record outside the Spanish club.

The sceptics have been proved right, at least at the start of the campaign, as PSG have been struggling for form from the week one. The team are currently four points adrift of Nice with the likes of Monaco and Toulouse also ahead in the table. Boasting a strikeforce that includes Angel di Maria and Edinson Cavani, the club has not found it difficult to score goals and they have already found the back of the 15 times in the opening seven matches. However, PSG have been struggling to get results and they have managed only four wins from the seven matches.

After having lifted several titles already with PSG, Thiago Silva is facing the prospect of losing the league title. He says that he is extremely concerned about PSG’s form right now. "Yes, it was difficult, it was not a good match for us. We didn't manage to play, to find the spaces. They deserved to win. It's not usual to have two defeats like that, but that's football. We have to stay calm. What worries me a bit is that we lost some of our game. I think that, gradually, it'll come back. Last year we started the season well and finished it better. This year we haven't started well, but the season is long,” said Silva.
